Review: JACKED NYE – Afroajck, Quintino, Shermanology, R3hab, Bobby Burns & Tommie Sunshine

Ever since the madness that was displayed on the closing day of Electric Daisy Carnival New York with their very own Jacked Stage and Afrojack closing out the festival, New York has been waiting for another Jacked event to come around again. When the announcement came out about Jacked NYE I knew it was something that couldn’t be missed. Afrojack absolutely killed in 2012 and bringing along his team of Quintino, Shermanology, R3hab and Bobby Burns to play in the massive space of Pier 94 this was only the making of a New Years show for the history books.

We arrived to Pier 94 at around 10 o’clock just as the sounds of Tommie Sunshine were hitting the speakers and starting of the night just right. The first track that I walked into him dropping was a awesome mash up of TJDOde To Oi” mashed with ACDCDynamite” which went together perfect and could not have went any harder. Being in NYC we knew this could not have been a show without someone dropping FirebeatzDear New York” to set off the crowd. For my first time seeing Mr. Sunshine live I was totally impressed and he killed it to open up the night! Tommie ended around 11:55 to bring in the New Year and let Afrojack Start off 2013 with his intro version of “Bangduck” to start off what would be a wild night. Afrojack tore up the first hour dropping bombs like his own “Annies Theme” “Rocker” and his new “Gangnam Style Remix“. The Jacked leader also dropped hits like “Who” by Plastik Funk & Tujamo, “Atom” by Nari & Milani and “Next Order” By Skrillex & Boyz Noize. Afrojack killed it for the first hour of 2013 and was not leaving because it was time to bring out the next member of Jacked and play back to back all night with each member of the team!

The next member of Jacked to hit the stage was none other then the “Epic” man himself Quintino. I have seen Quintino play twice before this, the first being at EDCNY and then again at Lit Ultrabar in Philly, he is one of my favorites so I was very excited to see him kill it once again. Opening with his and R3habs remix to TiestosChasing SummersQuintino was about to blow Pier 94 to the next level with Afrojack back to back. Together they rocked pier dropping tracks such as Afros “Take Over Control”, Quintinos Remix of “Bad Girls“, “Trigger” by W&W and Marcel Woods and MOTI mashup of Kid CudiPursuit of Happiness” and Nicky RomerosWTF“. Out of all the bangers that they dropped nothing compared to the way “Epic” set this place off. It was like it turned 12 o’oclock at New Years for the second time that night when it dropped at Pier and it was only going to get crazier from here on.

At around 2am after Quintino threw down a wild set with Afrojack, it was time for the sounds of Shermanology to grace us all. I was looking extremely forward to seeing Shermanology having missed them at EDCNY but I love the fact that they DJ and do live vocals as well. They came out hard and heavy hitting us with tracks such as “Cannonball” by Showtek, “Million Atoms to ApologizeHardwell vs Thomas Gold Edit, and one of my personal favorite tracks “Respeki Di Women” by SkitzoFenix. They also performed live vocals when dropping tracks like “Blessed” that they did with Avicii and “Titanium” by David Guetta. This night was so far unforgettable but what would be a set with Afrojack and Shermanology without dropping and singing their vocals live to there number 1 hit “Cant Stop Me“. Pier 94 was being rocked by the sounds of the Jacked crew and still had 2 more members to hit the stage to kill it and keep the music going strong.

At around 3am it was time for Bobby Burns to come hit us all with some of those Jacked beats we all love. Ever since seeing him live at EDCNY I thought Bobby Burns plays a absolute great set with a unique list of tracks so I was excited for him to get in to the booth. With Afrojack still on stage going back to back with all these artists it could not have been a better intro for Bobby Burns with him and Afro opening with their hit and one of my personal favorites “GhettoBlaster“. Bobby also dropped tracks like his original track “Next” and his and AfrojacksReal High“. The one part of Bobbys set that I loved was hearing his new track “MontBlanc” this track heavily supported by Tiesto and is set to release January 21st and sure to be a missive hit. It was starting to get late but it was not even close to end the night.

At around 4am we all knew it was time to check ourselves in to R3HAB. As late as it was getting nobody in pier was getting tired. The sounds of “Sending My Love” hit the speakers and we all knew it was time! The Vocals of that went straight into the new hard hitting track by R3hab and ZROQSkydrop” which set off pier 94 into a frenzy. He kept the madness going by dropping Swedish House MafiasAntidote” and “Miami 2 Ibiza“, ZeddsShotgun“, and Knife PartysRage Valley“. R3hab also dropped his own tracks such as his remix to Calvin HarrisBounce” and “Well Be Coming Back” and also his track with ShermanologyLiving For The City“. R3hab kept us rocking until 5am when Bobby Burns hit the stage again to close out the massive New Yeats Eve Show.

Bringing in the new year with the Jacked crew was a moment like no other. They had a crowd of over 10,000 singing and dancing for eight hours strong with no stopping. 2012 was a huge year for Afrojack and his Jacked crew and who only knows what 2013 has in store for them. All we can say is that we hope its going to be a bigger year then this one which means its going to be a massive year in 2013! We would like to thank Afrojack, Quintino, R3hab, Shermanology and Bobby Burns for such an eventful night to welcome in the new year!

Dirty Dutch Visionaire – Apocalypse (Original Mix)

Visionaire has been on fire the past few months with some MASSIVE remixes and originals. His new original “Apocalypse” does not disappoint. He takes a massive bass line and classic dutch synths to create an absolute banger.  This track absolutely destroys! Be on the look out for this guy. It is a free download on his Facebook page.
